Website about the new Globe
Everyone has heard of the Globe Theater and the masterful plays that Shakespeare wrote and performed there, but not many people no what happened to the theater and what is going. In 1599, the Globe was built to house Shakespeare's plays, but did not last very long. In 1613, the theater tragically burnt to the ground during a performance of Henry VIII. The positive from the whole situation was that only one person was hurt, as his trousers were caught on fire. The interesting thing is they decided to rebuild the theater a few hundred years later 400 feet away from the original site. The biggest issue they came into while building the new theater was the thatched roof, as they had to get a special permit to use it. The whole theater is constructed as it was back in the day with materials that are as close as possible to resembling the Victorian Age. It is an absolutely stunning thing to see for both history lovers and lovers of the theater. Today you can both visit the theater for plays or just to see it. It is just so interesting how it was built, burned down, and rebuilt again and the fact that you can see plays in it today. Shakespeare's Globe Theater is legendary in every single way and because it was rebuilt, there are many new legends to come.

The Women of King Lear
The villains of King Lear are Goneril and Regan, but as this article states it is Lear's fault that they ended up the way that they did. Lear comes up with the sick game, where each daughter tells him how much they love him, but that is just step one. He always says that Cordelia is his favorite and it would be no surprise to say that Cordelia loves Lear the most. Goneril and Regan should not be looked down upon as completely evil because their father had not treated them correctly throughout their lives. Also pointed out is the fact that people look down upon the sisters because they take on more masculine characteristics in their lust for power. Most people do not put down Edmund very much, but go crazy after the sisters because they are doing things out of the character of normal women. Looking at Lear, one can see his overreaction to events such as Cordelia's answer as what he might do as a parent. He also does this with Goneril where he wishes her to become infertile because she does not wish for him to be at his house with all his guards. Because he overacts so many times, it can be assumed that he did that while raising his daughters and it is no wonder that they turned out the way they did. This article is very interesting in that it makes the reader rethink their dislike for the sisters because it is obvious that Lear did not raise them correctly.
